Your emergency kit should contain something along the lines of the
following:
WATER
- Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles
- Store one gallon of water per person per day
- Keep at least a three-day supply of water per person, and pets, if
applicable
FOOD
- Store at least a three-day supply of non-perishable, ready-to-eat food such
as canned meats, vegetables, and fruits
- Baby foods/formula (if applicable)
- Pet foods (if applicable)
FIRST AID KIT
- Sterile adhesive bandages in assorted sizes
- Cleansing agent/soap
- Gauze pads
- Towelettes
- Three-day supply of necessary prescription and non-prescription drugs
- Antibiotic ointment
TOOLS AND SUPPLIES
- Paper cups, plates, and plastic utensils
- Battery-operated radio and extra batteries
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Cash
- Non-electric can opener and utility knife
- Fire extinguisher: small canister ABC type
- Toilet items
- Diapers, baby bottles and other baby needs (if applicable)
- Pry bar
- Blanket and/or appropriate extra clothing for the season
- Any other items crucial to your family's survival
