Pettis County Cares is a program jointly created by the EMA and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to assist elderly, homebound, and other citizens of Pettis County who might not have anyone to check on them after disaster strikes.

A list of those in the program is kept at the EMA office, and in the event of a disaster or other severe situation, volunteers are dispatched to check in with those persons on the list to find out if any assistance is needed.

Participants in the program receive a packet of four cards, each of a different color and bearing specific messages, along with a set of instructions.

The cards are set up as follows:

After an emergency event, the participant should place the appropriate sign in a front window or in a place that is highly visible from the road.

NOTE: If immediate help is needed, try the telephone first and call 911.
After that, then go to the signs.

If you would like to be placed on our list, or know of someone who might not have anyone to check on them, or if you just have questions about the program, you may contact our office at (660) 827-4800, or e-mail us at pettisema@pettiscomo.com.

Another thing every participant should have is a
72-Hour (3-Day) Emergency Kit.
